Post-16 Pathways in London

A-levels are Level 3 qualifications which develop your knowledge of a specific subject. A-levels are normally taught in a classroom and are assessed by exams and coursework.

A-levels are two years long and once you finish, you will be ready to apply for a high-level apprenticeship or university course.

A T-level is a Level 3 qualification which is equivalent to three A-levels. T-levels have been designed to prepare you for employment in a specific industry.

In a T-level, you will spend 80% of your time learning in the classroom, and 20% in an industry placement. T-levels are two years long and once you finish, you will be ready to enter the workforce, apply for a high-level apprenticeship or start university.

If you are interested in a specific industry and want to get hands-on experience, T-levels might be for you.

BTECS are vocational qualifications which focus on developing practical skills. They are mainly assessed through coursework and practicals. You can study BTECs at Level 1, 2 and 3.

Access to Higher Education Diplomas are Level 3 qualifications for adults over 19. They generally follow a more flexible structure, and are designed to support adults who did not complete A-levels or T-levels to access university.
